Stimulating Illustration

The purpose of this project was to design and produce a Digital Album cover and T-shirt art for an artist/band or playlist of songs from different artists. I wanted to create something that went with Edgar Allen Poe's poem "The Raven" The "Playlist" was inspired by different quotes from the poem.

Project Brief - The rationale behind this project was to create a package design that both beautifies packages of feminine hygiene products and emulates the company’s goal to be eco-friendly, and to create products that have a significantly reduced impact on the environment.

My Approach - One of my main goals was to make the package design smaller. While researching in the store, I noticed that the packages for a lot of these products are much larger than the product itself. In some cases, more than twice the size. Many of these products also have bright colour schemes. With BRIGHT pinks, blues and yellows. I wanted to use a more down to earth and natural tonal colour scheme. It was important to change the feel of the package making it more elegant, feminine and natural. All while reducing the physical size of the package itself to create less waste.

Project Brief - Design a poster reminiscent of the “Golden Age of Travel”, circa early-to-mid 1900s. Use simple, geometric style, vintage fonts, blending modes, paper textures and authentic-looking ink to illustrate a recognizable location, landmark, or cultural reference.

My Approach - I chose the bridge in Mattawa that crosses the Ottawa River because this bridge has a lot of meaning to me as it was one of my Dad’s favorites, and he worked on it a lot with the OVR. He passed away 6 years ago. I see this image and I picture my parents sitting in these chairs holding hands and enjoying the view.

One of the main obstacles I faced with this design was finding a simple way to depict the bushy trees in the background.”

Approach - I wanted to create a recipe for a classic drink in a retro style. Remembering watching classic movies with my Grandmother a “Tom Collins” came to mind. I researched Colours, Fonts and illustrative style inductive of the 1950’s.
